I just got a big peice of PVC pipe for my clown knife. I have seen other tanks that have PVC as homes for fish but not in a clown knife tank. Is it ok to use this material in a CK tank? If so, what do I need to do to prepare it for being in the tank, other than scrubbing it down and such?

PVC is fairly inert, it should be fine for your tank.

:headbang2 Get a sweet glass tube or something, like a glass chimneer leaned up so the CK could maybe use it, i know that usually Ghost Knives Like BGK and Translucent or Glass Knives would typically be housed in the glass chimneer but who knows it would work, and you would be able to see the CK in it unlike the PVC. Try em both let us know what the CK Chooses.!

Heres some pics of what the Glass chimneer looks like... if you didnt know
And a few pics of my Knives ..

I dont know about the clowns, but the reason the BGK would hide in the clear tube is that it is almost 100% blind. Using a small electrical field it senses that it is in a "cave" Other than a slight detection of ambient light, it doesnt know the hiding place it chose is transparent. Being that the clown can actually see, it might not feel safe in a clear tube. But let us know if you try it.

As for the pvc, it sould be safe. If you have to cut it. make sure to file or sand off any burrs before using it.
