I have figured out almost everything about how to use our current components to make my filter work thanks to everyone's help but I still have a couple of questions. Our PVC corner pipes have one small hole on each pipe. The hole is on the inside part of the elbow. When we put the hoses back into the tank, the holes are aiming into the overflow part of the tank. Will water come out of that hole and back into the overflow? Will it matter if the water from the hole goes into the overflow? Thanks for any help on this matter.

To add to the above post I have couple more questions. I am planning on going to buy a sump tomorrow. I have a 180 Gallon. I think I am going to be buying a pump capable of about 1000 GPH (I think that is big enough)? Currently the predrilled holes are about 1" extrenal diameter. After you figure in the thickness of the piping the overflow drain and fill hoses are about 3/4". I went here ...http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=205645 read thru this thread and now I am confused again.

Or maybe i just did not pay attention in math class. If 3/4" pipe size is limited to 337.5 gph it would be better to run one 500 gph sump to each side of the tank rather then 1 1000 gph pump because of the extra loss cause of distance traveled for the plumbing on a single pump. I can supplies pics of everything if needed just let me know if I was not clear. I have bunch of stuff running thru head and just sorting it all out.

Pictures will go a long way in clearing up what you have.

The one inch hole should be for the pressure side of the pump rather than going to the sump.

I am going to stop at Home Depot on the way home from work today and buy a few gaskets for the bulkheads. Here is a picture of the predrilled holes as well as the overflow.

Predrilled Holes Smaller hole on top I have a tube for the return water. Larger Hole is for draining water I have all the connections just need the pipes that run from the wet/dry sump.

The first post I was referring to the return line pipe comes up and hangs over edge and there is piping that returns water to tank. The tank was previously a Oceanic saltwater aquarium so the end of the return pipe has a nice adjustable head piece to change direction of water current. Where the pipe actually hangs on the edge there is a small drilled hole in each pipe I will take a picture of it tonight. Hope this helps clear up a few things.

The small hole is just to break the siphon when you lose power, it doesn't really matter if it points in the overflow or into the tank. I would prefer it went into the display area but it really doesn't matter.

^ yep.

And if you can't find gaskets, you can use silicone.

I actually prefer silicone to the rubber gaskets. I've had a couple of gaskets fail over the years, but the silicone never has. (knocks on wood):D

Ok so I went to Lowes/ Home depot tonight and I can not find a attachment that I need to connect my bulkhead for the return line. I spent about 2 hours looking for attachments. I could silicone it but if it would ever need maintenence I would prefer to be able to easily remove it. (easy is relative term i think)

I will take pictures of all the piping that I have in a few minutes and post some pictures up to get some more hints.
