I've decided to make a thread and post pics to show the growth of the new aro and whatever else I decide.

I took the divider out and left only one piece of driftwood. There is not near as much dirt on the bottom and the water is cleaner. I have to use flash since I don't have enough light on the tank. It doesn't seem too skittish even w/o much decor, less than my jar, I would say.

Since putting the Delhezi in with the aro, the del thinks it must be an arowana, lol. It is eating and swimming at the surface quite often.

Obtained 04/01/08 (no need to post pic, can't tell a difference)

Indeed...I'm loving the idea that there will be a few progression threads with baby blacks with pwmin, Bderick67, and AquataHolic420. :headbang2

what do you feed it?
i'm having trouble getting my baby silvers to eat anything

I know this wasn't directed to me, but I've always had luck with mysis shrimp, enriched brine, and bloodworms with the real little guys.

When I was keeping Arrowanas, i started off with feeder guppies, then to rosies when fish was about 10 inches.

Nice black pwmin...I haven't so much as seen a baby black in years, they used to show up at LFS in my area somewhat regularly (this is in the 80s). Watch that del...black aro would be a hell of an expensive feeder.

Loookin good:thumbsup:

Yours is still nice and black, mine has started to fade already

Thanks, everyone. Too bad yours is starting to lose its color, Brian. Did you take the smaller one? Mine is about 3 inches right now.

The del is only a little over 2 inches and as soon as it's big enough, it will go into my poly growout tank, so I'm not worried about that.

I would say the bloodworms are probably the most easily accepted non-live food item for small arowanas. It loves FD bloodworms and will eat some Omega One FD mysis shrimp, but didn't eat any omega one tropical flakes or baby cichlid gold pellets. Those are all the things I've tried so far. I would try Tetra mini krill or something with a stronger odor than the mysis, though. My jar used to eat the tetra stuff, but spits out the mysis.
