:nilly: So I might be getting a pygmy chameleon this weekend! So excited! You see, it's my birthday tomorrow, and I am really trying to convince the parents into one. Dad is all for it (he actually thinks the tank will be cheaper than another aquarium electricity wise), but I'm not so sure about mom. Last reptile I brought home she almost made me take back... I already set up a tank so lets see if I am a good enough convincer to be allowed to get the chameleon this weekend!

Here is a website I found about them: http://cherisse44.webs.com/

Any other tips you guys have on Pygmy care would be greatly appreciated. I've been looking into them for a while anyways, and when the LFS owner told me he ordered in a birthday surprise for me, and it only cost $25 I was super excited. When I got there it was the pygmy chameleon I've been wanting so badly! Now I just need to wait until mom is home and then the begging begins. :naughty: She wants me to get more fancy goldfish for my 90 gallon goldfish tank (which I don't even understand why I have because I hate goldfish... ) as well as another saltwater fish, even though I'm tearing down my 187 gallon reef next week (over thanksgiving break) to add a 55 gallon refugium. :irked:
Sometimes, I just don't see my mom's thought process...

well this is gonna be your first problem, glass tanks dont let in enough ventilation causing serious health problems for chameleons, you are going to want to buy one of those set ups with the mesh all the way around for ventilation

Have you ever kept these before?

@ fishfreak2009 You will do just fine with a 10g (single) or 20g tank (mff)

Considering on that website I posted a link to she breeds her pygmys in a glass aquarium, I see no reason why I couldn't keep it in there.

Right now the store only has one pygmy in stock, but eventually if they get any more in I can go buy it a mate :naughty:

The only problem with all of this is that mom is still not convinced. She came downstairs this morning, looked at the tank and told me it looked good, but that she wants no more animals that eat crickets... I'm seriously considering telling her they only eat mealworms because my dad and I always buy the crickets without my mom anyways, and a dozen is only a dollar more.

go to screameleon.com and read up on the a glass aquarium isnt enough ventalation and they need to be taller then long. And need to keep humidity up there is alot more to them then you think

And with the whole cricket problem feed it dubia roaches, you can start a colony of them in a 20gal. They don't smell and eat little. Plus roaches r the best feed for chameleons. Crickets can chew on there skin if left in the cage alive
