Will destroy thousands of jobs and small family businesses; $104 million annual economic impact.
Criminalize the actions of over 1 million American Citizens; Lacey Act felons.
Federal action to address a localized problem in South Florida is unnecessary; the State of Florida and US Fish & Wildlife have already taken draconian measures.
Underlying science has been criticized by scientists from around the world.
Creates a massive animal welfare problem, potentially displacing millions of animals.

I may not be popular for saying this, but honestly I don't see a huge problem in blocking the IMPORTATION of certain species. Actually banning the sale and ownership of them is an entirely different matter, but keeping them from being brought it really doesn't strike me as a huge issue. If anything it will give captive breeders more power over the market, and hopefully the price will go up a bit. Big snakes, IMO, aren't a problem because they're big. They're a problem because a lot of them are big AND they're cheap. There's absolutely no reason a baby burmese python should cost about as much as a baby corn snake.

Same goes for the Nile Monitor. I don't think its necessarily a bad pet, I think its just too damn cheap and easy to get. The Tegu being $150 is good, its cheap enough to be reasonably accessible, but its too much for most people to just impulsively slap down on the counter without even thinking about it. Maybe if Saves go up to $150 and Niles go up to $200-$300 or more, not as many kids will end up with them as their first pets.

Sigh, BCOP just stop. Your ignorance is showing.

On topic, this already passed.............. those species will be illegal to transport or import very soon.
