I was wondering how long it takes you guys to change out roughly 100 gallons of water (on one tank) using a python? I am using a DIY gravel vacuum using a 50 foot water hose with an adapter to hook onto a faucet and a piece of pvc on the end as a vacuum and it takes FOREVER:nilly:! My DIY vac is very effective though...

well mine takes 20 min to suck out and refill 4 tanks totalling about 60Gallons if that helps thats moving it around also though

:irked:I knew that would happen... My DIY vac takes about 45 minutes to remove 100 g's of water and then 30 minutes to fill back up....:nilly::irked::(

stop using the kitchen sink... get a shower diverter makes it soooooo much faster..

Could you post pics of that DIY vac please? And some details about it. i am very interested.

I have a Python. I just drained a 120g empty using it took about 45 minutes. Seems a reasonable amount of time to me. As a gravel vac however, it sucks imo. Well a little any way. That's the problem. It sucks but not enough  It just doesn't do like I would hope.

Yeah, I will post pics sometime today....

I have a pvc faucet adapter to connect a faucet to a water bed water pump. This piece is soon to be brass, because I have found the pvc threads wear after 20-30 uses. I have the water pump hooked to a roll up garden hose. The hose rolls up very small (to fit under the stand) kind of like a fire truck's water hoses. The hose will soon have a piece of 2 inch pvc hooked onto the end, but I have not found the proper connections yet...
