I got a 4' light fixture that looks to be something for a garage but I was told it is for corals.... the light bulbs are the reg 4's that you can use from home depot (With the 2 pins on each side).
I wanted to know what would happen if I bought lightbulbs that were to bright than the wattage the fixture puts out. The bulbs in right now say coral something and are 50watts ea (Im going to stay with in the watts told to be but im just curious). Would it just burn out or not last as long or will I risk a electrical hazard????

I was told it is 60 watts ea light bulb
Ill post more pics tomorrow (this is the one I was sent before I got it)

Thanks, I know very lil about electrical:D

Keep was within what the fixture can push. "Coral" lights like this are more spectrume, not for big watts. If the fixture was made for aquatic use, it should be fine over a tank. Some standard 'shop lights' don't like moisture.

That looks like my lights of America shop lamp. I paid 9.99 for a dual 4 foot T8 fixture from wally world and 6 bucks for two 32 watt bulbs. I wish I could have 50 watt bulbs in mine.
