Are these guys winter hardy in an outdoor pond?

I found some at a local cichlid club and was wondering if they are the same Trapdoor Snails I have had in my pond for years. I feel dumb asking, but thought they might be the same.

If your pond is below the frostline and has a place for them to aesthivate they should do fine.

Aesthivate?

The pond runs year round and has plenty of O2. Some of the original snails I put in 4 years ago are about golf ball size. I have babies ranging from a small marble to grape like size. Just want to increase the snail population and found a good deal on them.

Should I do it?

thanks for the quick responce...

aesthivate is like hibernation. They usually dig down into soil/silt to do so. Do you have a layer of mulm in y our pond? I would assume since your others are doing well these would as well.

Not mulm, but several very large root masses of marginals that frogs and I am assuming the other snails bed down in. I could be a little less anal about leaf removal and let a little accumulate in some spots to insure their survival.
