I bought some Black Worms and was feeding them to my little grow outs.

I dont need to buy the Lbs of blackworms no more and I was doing a W/C today and noticed baby Leeches on the glass.

Will they threaten my stock?

I am trying to take out all the ones I see and will continue to do so.

Thanks
E

Leeches? Are they planaria flatworms with the arrow shaped head? I have this question too.

I've read varying things-- both that they are not harmful to fish and that they are a threat to weak fish, fry, etc. From what I've read, they also pose a risk to weak shrimp and shrimplets. Maybe try a google search on your specific species in relation to planaria.

I picked some up in a marimo ball (luckily, I still have it in a plant QT) so I need to treat the water with something; I haven't decided what to use, but I've read of successful eradication with quick cure, prazipro, fenbendazole, or piperazine. I already tried cleaning everything again, and still saw another few, so looks like I will do a chemical treatment to clean things up. At least I only have the plants to consider in my treatment choice...

Sorry I don't have any definitive answer, but HTH somewhat.

oh man, leeches suck <ha!!>

You definitely need to get rid of them. Most people end up having to nuke the tank and filters, etc.

In the future, rinse those blackworms and remove any leeches. This is why I culture my own foods. Leeches totally give me the heebyjeebies.

leaches arnt good in a tank with fish/other inverts, but in a tank by themselves, the larger(1 inch plus) species actualy make interisting single species tank inhabitents. dosent make them any less creepy though:yuck:
