A QUESTION FOR YOU AViD RAY KEEPERS~
:icon_naruto10:

i was wondering. :nilly:
i know most rays GET HUGE, and require ALOT of attention.
water change. water level testing. big tank.
and arent so compatible with many fish~
i wanted to knoe WHATS A DWARF RAY, if any? [name]
and WHAT TYPE RAY CAN BE KEPT INA COMMUNITY TANK?
ALSO~ THE EASiEST TYPE OF STING RAY 2 TAKE CARE OF?
:dbz3_4:
i swear i have seen pictures of a ray in a community tank with a bunch of other fish, plants, gravel, and drift wood. and believe me~ :cool-1:
WHOOOOOOOOOO it looks SO SICC.

im very interested in these graceful monsters.
being that, im gonna move around begining of next year.
and FOR SURE, :dbz3_4:
i MUSTTTTTTTTTT BUY A 100+ gALLON ACRYLIC tank.
maybe 125? 110? i dont wanna over do it with a 130+
loll. damn im addicted to fish keepin. :cool-1:

but yeah, if u RAY-EDUCATED-PEOPLE could teach me,
i'd really appreciate it. dankz~

well histrix could live in a 180 for life all other rays will require a wider tank...all other rays will need huge tanks such as motoros, leopoldi...other small rays such as rectics,scobina,etc... could also live in smaller tanks but most will need tanks atleast 30" wide(except scobina they dont have very long tails) and btw rays are ILLEGAL in cali so i dont think your gonna be gettin any well you still live there

I agree with kody. Rays mostly need a wider tank to be happy. A 100 gallon WIDE tank would be MIIMUNM ok for a small ray or two. But yeah 180 or 200 would be ok. Usually smaller rays are a little harder to take care of depending on their condition when you get them. The easiest rays for beginners would be P. motoro, but they do get large. As for keeping smaller rays in a community tank, you will get arguments from a lot of people. Rays, even small rays, will eat fish if they can catch them. So smaller fish like tetras and small barbs and maybe even small catfish could be at risk. But larger fish would be ok, just be careful that they dont pick on the rays (i.e. biting their tails and eyes). Larger cichlids could do this if you are not careful like if the rays are too small. I have kept rays in community tanks with discus and been ok. My discus were pretty large and the rays were relatively small. I kept my water pristine and all the fish were well fed. Rays are hungry almost ALL THE TIME though. So they will be digging through the tank and moving sand/gravel/plants/small rocks/small pieces of wood wherever they want to try and get food. Planted tanks are not the best idea. But it can be done if you are willing to plant in large clay pots (that are too heavy to move) or use plants that you can plant on big rocks or large pieces of wood like java fern or anubias. Even then it might not work just cause they move around so much.
Lastly, rays are illegal to own/sell/import in California, but living in Korea Town, I bet you could still find one. Just remember to do some more research before you buy.
Hope this helps

you could grow one out in a 100 wide but no ray will happily live in that tank forever mabye a year depending on what kind and what size you purchase it at.... so might as well just buy a big tank to start so you dont have to upgrade
**and please dont encourage him to buy/own a ray in cali last thing we need**

MUCH DANkZ GUYS~
:icon_naruto10:
yeah, i can find alot of things in LA, in which we shouldnt have~
:cool-1:
