I'm brand new to owning poly's and was hoping some more experienced keeper's could help me out. I just purchased a 2 inch Ablino Senegal and I was hoping to get some info on them. I've been lucky in at least one way this poly is already eating floating aro sticks from the surface so at least he's off live so I lucked out there with the weaning. Now for the questions part. I've used the search trying to look up info on these guy's and the info on some of the threads seem to contradict. Some say Albino's grow faster some say slower and still other's say at the same rate as a normal Senegal, So which is it?About how much growth can I expect in a month .5 inches more or less? Also they're seems to be contradictions on adult size some threads say 3-5 inches max and other's 10-12. Basically I have this little guy in a grow out tank and I want to know how long will it be before I can add him to my regular community or if I ever will be able? Now I'm prone to believe not because all the pics on google are all of small albino's, but I'm hoping I'm wrong. So please a little help and if you've got a 8 inch albino or bigger, I'd love to see some pic's!:D

albino sen is similar with regular sen, in a home tank expect max growth around 8-10". Grow rate will depend on the gen and many other factors include food, n water. Some will reach around 8" within the first year, but some will grow much less eversince they are mostly captive breed. Most of the albino sen I saw here are with deform body, either short body or those with bent.

I have Two of them myself.. they are pretty slow growers.. so dun expect too much.. probably .5 inches a month.. but based on diet.. they can actually hit a foot max.. i will try to get some pics.. my sens are on a tilapia and beefheart diet.. they also tk market prawns and bloodworms.. a varied diet is pretty much the more important factor.. they also seem to enjoy more acidic water.. temp for mine ard 25 celcius.. :D

Around 8"-10" max as said they have poor genes so they may only get 6" and depending on diet and WC depends on how fast their growth will be I'd say IME bichir grow quickly in there first 8 months of life and if they are kept in poor water quality or fed a poor diet they tend to get stuck until they get another growth spurt....A good WC regimine is between 50%-75% once a week and feed twice a day till about 7" then you can go down to once a day feeding....
