How hard is it to find a good home for a Senegal Bichir on this site? I wanted to ask before advertising on the need homes section here.

Someone told me to use craiglist but I'm more hoping to be able to find someone from here, that has the experience and understanding that these guys need. I want to do my best to find him a good, forever home. where he will be treated right, have good water and food, and hopefully lead the good life.

For all who are wondering why, this guy spends all his time in his cave, while all of a sudden the other two are constantly together or running from him. When he goes near either one, he puts up his dorsal fins, gives chase....
(often times from one end of tank to the other)
and when he catches them he takes a chunk out their tails.

No one is real happy in this situation. And it has been going on for weeks. Nothing I seem to do fixes it.

It is breaking my heart to have to part with him, but if i can find him a real good home it will help, as in my heart I feel it is the right thing to do.

Moonchild, before you part with your bichir here's one more thing you might try! This has worked well for me on several occassions. You can go to Home Depot or Lowes,or a similar home improvement store and buy what's called "egg-crate". It usually comes in a 2'x4' section, it's white plastic with square holes all in it. It's usually in the lighting department and if you ask for "egg-crate" they should know what you're talking about! Right now I'm looking at one of my 75gal. tanks separating a much larger and more aggressive male from a smaller female I hope to breed him with, using a piece of "egg-crate". You can cut it to fit the inside demensions of your tank. Water will continue to circulate tru the divider and they can still see and smell each other without coming in physical contact. You have to make it a tight fit so they can't knock it over, or prop rocks or bogwood against it. The best thing is that it will work, and I think I only paid about $7.99 for the sheet. Just another option!:)

move the decor around a little or feed the bichir in question more and mabye add some fast moveing bottem dwelers like pictus catfish

mail him to AZ? :)

Lol...I 've moved the decor and even tried taking it all away.

I don't want to ship him but if anyone here wants him, and would like to come pick him up, please let me know. And we can work something out.

Of course, I want to know what kind of situation he is going into. :D

His name is Silver. He is going on 7 inches and a really cool silver colour.
Here is a pic of him:

What do Sens his size usually go for?

senegals are so common nowdays that you'd be lucky to get much money at all for the guy. I wouldn't ask more then $10-15, and thats just to make sure he would go to a good home.
