QT of non ray species b4 introducing to ray tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
With all my incoming fish, I'd put them into 6 weeks of QT regiment. My purpose is to get all parasites or disease out of the way and get them to eat my food and train them to eat aggresively. My main tank have over 22 large dats as well as 2 large rays, 3 large aros, a tig, juruense and an AUL, so if they're not aggresive to eat, they'll starve to death.

1st week, no meds...just water change and get them acclimated
2nd week, prazi
3 rd week, prazi and Metro
4th week, By this time, I usually watch for behaviour, poop and weight gain. If they seems healthy, I just stick with prazi and metro/ dimilin (anchor worms) again. Other wise, I'll try other meds (levamisole, fenbendazole, ande tc)
5th week, same as 4th
6th week, goes froim half a dose of meds, WC to no meds and if its' ready, put it in the main tank.

Most parasite have a life cycle of 4-6 weeks, as long as nothing else is introduced, 6 weeks is a pretty good safe measure. 90 days would be better, but I have never have any problem with 6 weeks. I don't have too much patient to wait 90 days lol
