I’ve always quarantined fish at temps around 80. It’s been awhile since I’ve purchased anything new and wondered if anyone had any other suggestions. I have 50 rummynose coming in from Wetspot tomorrow. Thanks I advance.

I have raised to 83 or even 86 if the fish can accommodate, trying to expedite the symptoms if the fish came compromised.

specifically, I've personally never had issues from Wetspot (I even skipped QT a few times), so I would keep at the temp of the tank you plan to transfer them to, so the fish can theoretically adjust better once out of QT.

To me it QT temps depend on species, and what their natural temp range suggests.
A cichlid or tetra from Uruguay, or northern Mexico might do best in the low 70s, but a cichlid or tetra from Panama may do fine in the low 80s.

Another consideration are the bacteria different species have built, or don't have resistance to.
The bacteria that causes columnaris becomes more virulent at temps of 80'F and above, so subjecting a fish to higher temps than it has evolved o live in, after the stress of shipping to higher temps than its natural range could be counterproductive.

Personally I would keep the QT tank at the same temp as the display. If an illness presents, then I would adjust the temp based on what it is. For example, if ich presents, then I would raise the temp to 87f
