My mother in law just bought me a 3gallon fish tank set... I'd rather buy a nice betta instead of getting guppies. Its been years since I've had a betta and their what got me into the hobby so I'd really like to own one again :]

Sooo my question is are there any good online stores for unique bettas? Or even a MFK'er that could ship to Florida? I'm not looking to spend a butt load of money but I would like a cool looking fish.

Oh yeah could I get some cherry shrimp with the betta or would he eat it?

Thanks

Oh yeah, the tank is an Eclipse System 3, It says it has a BIO-wheel 3stage filtration. Its made by marineland... Do you think that is a good tank/good filtration?

Petsmart and Petco usually have some pretty decent bettas. Not all are the same colors. I personally really like crowntails.

The marineland 3 gallon is a really great tank for a betta.

Sometimes the chain stores get cool bettas in. Just look through all of them.

I recommend getting some mopani wood from petco (sold under the zoo med brand) and attach some anubias nana to it (rubber band works great until it roots itself on.)

As to cherry shrimp - eventually it will be eaten. Sometimes you can keep snails.

aquabid has some awesome bettas for sale. You have to really hunt around Petco/mart for a unique fish, but their out there........

What's your price range? If you want quality Bettas, they can got from $20-$40. I agree with meghanashley with http://www.nicebettas.com/ Personally I think, there are plenty of nice Bettas from lfs that you can get for a lot less.

yea just use aquabid, dont go to pet shops as they are packaged like the ones and walmart and they are ugly crowntails and longtails...you better of buying it from someone who has alot of bettas or has good experiences with bettas....for me i like the halfmoon tail bettas the best
