1) a QT tank should be bare of decor that isn't easily cleaned/removed ect.. ime PVC pipes work great as hide spots and are easily cleaned as needed or if needed
2) a QT tank is cycled fully... new fish are stressed enough w/out ending up in poor water quality ( depending on what your bringing in I've found live foods that are ideal make great cycle holders)
3) a QT tank is in an area of low traffic or controlled traffic, people walking past every few minutes, or a blaring TV nearby, ect adds stress.
I keep on hand my "medicinal" basics.. prazipro,melafix, pimafix.. some use other meds I prefer these.. but I always have a small amount on hand if needed in an emergency. a few $ here or there in expired meds imo is worth not losing a fish I just spent time and money procuring.
