:eek: after my fish have caught ich just before we were about to upgrade to a bigger tank!! i have put them all in qt tank i purchased medicine today calledesha oodinex wide range marine treatment has anyone used it?? does it work?? will i have to keep them in qt for 4 weeks or 8??used a water world med in main display tank when first fish showed symtoms but it killed all coral!! so much for reef safe! has cost us a fortune! helpppppp!

I would use any medicine. you can lower the salinity in the qt tank to 1.009 and keep it there for 5 weeks and then slowly bring the salinity back up to 1.025 over a course of 2 weeks, and your fish should be free of ich. I wouldn't use anything in the tank. The ich that is left in the tank will die off without anything for it to host on. this treatment is called hypo. Due a search on hypo salinity treatments and you will get good driections on how to do it.

thanks have used med and started to reduce salt they dropping like flys though have lost one today and two more on the way out!

freshwater baths work very well. get a bowl/bucket of fresh water (dechlorinated of course) and put the fish in there for 2 minutes. Because the bacteria can only live in saltwater, being in the fresh water for that 2 min will kill it.
