Here is my situation: my air conditioning unit is out and the part needed will not be here for 5 days!
I have a 90 gallon and a 50 gallon tank with african cichlids - yellow labs, fusco, giraffe cichlid, ice blue zebra, red empress, and an eyebiter! My question is will the fish be OK if their water temperature gets up to 90 - 92 for several days before i'm able to get the temperature down?
thanks

thats really really warm, the water shouldnt get that warm, just keep the room the fish are in shut up with blinds and windows closed this should help a little
also maybe throw in ice cubes if it gets really hot

freeze coke bottles, when it's to the right temp...take them out. and add more air stones in high temp water.

If you have any electronics or anything take them out of the room or just turn them off. I doubt your tanks will get that warm, at least the 90 won't. Like people mentioned, air stones and fans aimed at the tank and/or over the surface of the water. Keep as much of the water moving at as you can at all times.

The reason for the air stones is that heat lowers the dissolved oxygen levels in your water, causing you all kinda of problems.

I have heard tanks get in the 90s in the summer when it is hot. It is not uncommon. There is an entire thread about how to cool your tanks in the summer if you use the search feature.

I'm sure the fish might be fine but with a higher temperature means a highter metabalism and that could cause a riot in your tank. I'd use one of the methods above for getting the water cooler
