Hello, I'm new to the forums. I've been keeping fish for some time lately, I orginally started with an oscar tank then switched to a native tank with a largemouth and smallmouoth bass. I released my bass into a local pond because they got really big and I felt bad keeping them in a tank. I currently set up my 55G and 20G back up (use my 20 gal as a nursery tank) My question is, I have 5 convicts 2 of which are breeding pair (one male black and a female pink and a male pink with a female pink) which I've owned for about 3 months now and on my 5th or 6th "litter" for each pair. Now I have set up one pair in my 20 and waited until the eggs hatched then put the parents back in the 55 and raised the young myself until they were big enough to give to friends and my lfs. My mistake with the other pair (black and pink) I have a good 50 or 60 fry at about 1-2 cm in length swimming around and there's a decent amount of waste on the bottom, but I cannot vac it up because I don't want to suck the fry up, and also the parents will NOT let me near their "area" without pecking at my hand. I don't want to stress them out or risk killing any of the young. I'm running a 30-60 whisper filter on the tank now, but I do water changes every week and the water is crystal clear, suprisingly my water levels are perfect (I test the water every 2 weeks) I have sand bottom which shows everything. Any tips on what I can do? Or do I need to wait it out until the fry get big enough for me to net out and not make this mistake again? Any help would be appreciated, but I'm literally being over run with baby convicts....between the 2 pair I have probally around 100 fry total, but the other set is in a 20 by themselfs. Also if you're local to philly and want some "marbled" convicts for free come get em, haha
