I currently have 2 oscars one is 5'' and the other is 7'' in a 150g tank. I also have 2 plecos one is 7'' and the other is 14''. The thing is I was told that I could get away with 4 oscars in my 150g. If I do wouldnt I have to get rid of the plecos or could I keep the big one as im kinda fond of him and bought him for only $10. I might have to give in and get a tank just for the big pleco. My only concern with having the 4 oscars is when/ if they spawn how will they react to the other oscars in the tank? and is this doable? Thanks!

If they get along, yes.

what i suggest is you buy between 6 and 8 small juvinile Oscars around 4 and 5 inches and let them pair off in your tank and just single out the pairs and get rid of the ones which don't pair up. If it's breedsing you want them for. they don't start breeding until there about 6" so you'll have plenty of time for them to pair up and make friends.

since I already have 2 O's what is to happen if they are both males? And say I did get the 6-8 juvies will they be tourmented by the bigger O's? It seems to me that the two I already have are male cause there is some aggression between them. I noticed that the little O (5") was/is chasing around my big bully O (7") They act like they are going to lock lips but never do. I have seen them lock lips once. How do you tell if they have paired up. They also swim around with eachother most of the time. Thanks!

The lip locking is a sign of 2 males yes and what they are doing is determing weather or not who is going to be the dominant one if you were still to buy 6-8 more there will be some agression yeah but there will be definate pairing and matchmaking.

Not necessarily. My albino pair used to lip-lock a lot in the pre-spawning courtship. There's a very thin line between courtship and aggression in oscars, and determining which is which requires experience. If one is getting too much bullied, and keeps sulking in a corner, hiding from the other, means that it IS aggression. In courtship they do not become hiding and fleeing away from the other, although they lip-lock and keep shimming and flaring side by side.

Best regards.

Daniel.
