I am more of a ray and aro fan, but have a few cichlids too. I have a pair of salvinis that are about a year old, that WERE inseperable. They laid their first eggs on Feb 14th (Valentines spawning!). The male got so violent he was attacking the usually timid 17" Jardini that lives in the tank.....needless to say, the jardini ended up with the male salvini in his mouth.....twice. I therefore took out the log with the eggs and the pair of salvinis and put them in my 20 long......within 2 days they ate the eggs,so I put them back in the 220 with the jardini.....now they are acting a little mean to each other, lip-locking and the male chses the female.......did I screw up by moving them??.....should I get another female salvini to take some of the pressure off of the original one (like ray keepers do) or should I just see if things settle out?? ANy thoughts or similar experiences would help!

The male wants to breed again but the female is not ready. Getting another female might not be the solution because if the male bonds with the other female, they most likely would harass the original female you have and would be a great target for your Jardini as food.
