If i have just a air filter in a planted tank wld it be engh filtration or do i need a hanging filter. The tank wld be 100 gallons +. Or if i just had a air filter wld it be ok with 100 gallons still with a unplanted tank. What are your thoughts?

all depends on how big the sponge is and what the tank is stocked with...

Okay thnx. So i wld need a cannister for most fish.

no , not necessarily. You might want more filtration turnover than a sponge can offer however. You could look into course sponges with powerheads they do a nice job keeping the water clean.

This all really depends on what you plan to keep, Any info ?

No i was rlly just wonderin because i knw some lfs just have air filters. And i heard of a way to rig somethin to run a whole bunch of air filters at once

Saltwater powerhead ? Im afraid I dont really understand.

I mean you could run a more course sponge using a powerhead to push more water through the sponge :)

And yes with a decent sized air pump you can use a gang valve and run multiple sponge filters using air.

Hope this helps.

U may not understand me but now i understand u. Ur using the power head aimed at the filter to run more water through the sponge.

I really should have explained that better I apologize.

Here is a pic of what im trying to say :) (let me know if it doesn't come up) .

Something like this. The power head pulls the water through the sponge filters uplift tube at a much greater speed than you can typically achieve with air. Increasing the filters turnover and helping tank circulation.

Kkk thnx it came up
