I currently have a 7" orbi ray and just got my 5" motoro ray today. I have been feeding the orbi red wigglers and frozen blood worms. The motoro I purchased was previously eating black worms. Our only local petstore does not carry black worms, nor do they even know what they are. The problem with the blood worm cubes is that they don't all like to sink to the bottom and most get eaten by the other little fish I have before they can sink. So heres my question....I have looked up places online where I can purchase live black worms. What I was looking at was I believe 1 pounds or 4000 worms. About how long do you think an order this size will last my 2 rays? Will they consume that many before the worms perish? And does anyone know approx. the amount (in comparison) how many black worms to 1 blood worm cube? Sorry, I know this is a lot of questions but i'm trying to weigh out my options and have no experience with black worms. Thank you for any help

That's a good amount. I don't know how long it will last. But you can keep worms alive for a while. If you have a spare refrigerator, get a cheap cat litter pan dump worms into that. Rinse them out every day or so.

better be careful with live black worms, because if you feed any bad worms they can make your fish sick I am not sure if they might carry some kind of parasites I think they live in sewers

If you are odering blakworms get them from california blackworms. Frozen bloodworms have very little nutritional value. I have never seen a motoro refuse a red wiggler and if you have access to them that is fine for now as they are more healthy than the bloodworms and easier then the blackworms. You should try to teach them to take pellets, it should not be to hard, rays are smart and when hungry will try different things.

Good Luck!

Bulk reg wigglers are cheaper cleaner and easier and I agree never had an issue with a motoro going after them unless they where sick

my orbi is quite picky ive noticed. Iv tried frozen squid, frozen shrimp and frozen smelt with her and she refuses all of it. What kind of pellets do you recommend?

i do have another question if you all don't mind....i have a 280 gallon tank being delivered next week that i intend on putting the stingray pups into once it is setup and cycled. What other tankmates do you recommend? Rite now they are in with some gouramis and glow tetras but obviously these will be easy snacks once the rays grow. The tankmate question seems to be very controversial (at least that's what i have discovered while surfing the web). I really don't want this big tank with just 2 rays....but im so confused as to what would work out best

Hikari Massivore.

As far as Tankmates... every ray is different, some are notorius head eaters and will not put up with anything others have no issues with fish. You will need to try and see but generally my opinion is larger non aggressive cichlids ( like Geos, urua, true parrots etc) and Lager tetras and barbs ( like silver dollars, tinfoils, bala sharks work best). but like i said each one is diffent ...

Good Luck
