hi i have a question im getting a 55 gal ,and its going to be a cichlid tank now ive been looking online and ive gotten some helpful tips , but i was wondering if the cichlids i was planning on getitng will go well with each other and this are the fish im planning on getting well not all of them but these are my favorite so far

1texas
2firemouths
1 or 2 jack dempseys
maybe a couple frontosa or convicts
a striped rafeal cat(already have)

also can semi aggresive go with these im thinking of either some
irridenscent shark
a blue gourami that is very aggresive aint nothing semi about him (ialready have him)
rainbow shark
parrot cichlids
(now im not trying to mix all of these they are just my favorite and want to know who would be most compatible)
or something you guys would recommend i would also be getting everybody as babys so they can grow up and get used to one another.
i would greatly appericate any tips for setting up as well
like if i shoud put many plants or hiding places etc...

if you get a texas then plants aren't an option go with driftwood or rocks they will work for all of those fish

Frontoza like different water params then SZ/CA cichlids but can adapt how ever texas and Jack dempsy cichlids are usually to aggressive for them

Iridescent sharks will get way to big for a 55 so unless you have a pond i wouldn't get one

Other then that the other fish should work together except the rainbow shark which will most likely get out grown

it also sounds like you are wanting a lot of fish in the 55g

Too many fish and too many that will outgrow the tank and/or incompatible.

the cichlid suggestions could work as a grow-out situation, but at some point you will probably end up with the dempsey pair, and maybe one other fish

well i dont want all of those fish in a 55 those are just the varietys that i like and am going to choose from them and which ones would be most compatible together , okay so what i got was that if i do the texas and firemouth it should be fine but if i do frontosa i should go with semi aggresive ??? one more question from the fish i mentioned they most likely might get along if raised together from small size ??? (again im notgoing to pout all the fish i mentioned in one 55 i just wanna make sure that i can pick fro m this group of fish thanks again and give me hints like wat u guys would pick and put in a 55 from the ones i chose or if you guys know any other compatible fish as well , wat about a black ghost knifefish

thats good...I think.

Ive got firemouths and green texas in a92 gal. right now with others also they get along great what ive found that if u provide enough caves and hiding places and monitor feeding u can keep aggresion down they love to dig so live plants arent a good idea but watch out green texas can get big my male is at least 6". if u werent so far my green texas have babies
