New to saltwater, got a setup from a friend. 75gl with wet/dry and protein skimmer. salinty is 1.022, tank is running for a while with established live rock and live sand. tankmates include snails, shrimp, and crabs.

And my question is, I just picked up a small clown fish(nemo). At the store he was swimming normally, but in my tank is is always at the top and looks like he is swiming on his side al the time. I also have a damsel in the tank, not sure what kind and t is okay. Is it sick or is something wrong with my tank. Thanks

sounds like a few things might be going on. My mind would first go to abuse from the damsel. Clowns are from the same family as damsels and this is a sure sign of territory dispute. Another option would be basic stress and maybe even a lack of oxygen in your tank. However as your other stock seems to be doing fine, id assume your clown and damsel are not getting along.

This may go away as your damsel gets used to the clown, however I dont see a very good ending for the clown if he's already swimming sideways etc... Id suggest removing either the damsel or the clown as your clown may not make it much longer.

best of luck.

agreed, the damsel is harassing him i'm sure.

sounds like your damsel is bulling him or he wasn't acclimated right and is suffering from ph or salinity shock
