i have a question about my new clown loaches , i recently bought 3 juvi clown loaches i ve had them about a week or so, i noticed them rolling around in the play sand that use. they look healthy and eat like lil pigs so im not worried about health. but this does look a lil unusual to me. this is the first time ive ever had clown loaches in a tank with sand. is this type of behavior normal, it really looks like there just playin.

Yep, normal behavior. Clown Loaches like to "play" a lot. They also like to lay on their sides from time to time. I'm thinkin' since they spend a lot of time resting on the substrate they probably like sand more than gravel.

I don't see anything wrong with that. If they look well-conditioned, you should be fine.

P.S. We have a subforum in Bottom Dwellers forum for loaches so any questions about loaches can be posted there.:)

thanks........... i did have a scare the first couple of days, i couldnt find 2 of them anywhere after watching and looking for them i noticed that they were hiding inside my rena smart heater theres a hole on top so you can attatch it to a filter but i use mine as a stand alone.....crazy thanks again for the help

One of the many reasons I keep them, they really are enjoyable. Odd behavior is a concern for other fish, but not these.

i have 3 clowns in my 100gall and i love them... so "playful", always up at the front skipping round. They seem to shoal with the tinfoils which makes me chuckle cause it looks like they are playing tag. And yes, mine lay on their side too.

lol ive got 4 myself, 3 shoal all day and the other one lays down on a log in a sleeping position they crack me up

this has gotta be the best site ive ever been apart of.......there has never been a question that i havent had a reply too. thanks again for all the help mfkers
