Is it possible for any cichlid to cross breed with another type of cichlid? I know some do, but do all have a possibility? Like say for instance, a Convict and an Oscar, or a Jewel and a Ranbow cichlid.

Im worried about mixing because if 1 happnes to be male and the other female, I dont want breeding/mixing to occur.

To answer your question, simply put, it is not possible for any cichlid to breed with any other type of cichlid. Cichlids that hybridise are usually found in similar areas, attain similar sizes, share similar breeding practices etc. (altough not always the case).

Ok, I just wanted to make sure so I wasnt playing russian roulette. They would have to be pretty much in common for cross breeding to occur right?

even if they do breed, the easy solution to not worrying about all the hybrid offspring is to cull them
