Hey i was wondering if a dragon goby can go with aggressive fish.. cuz i never had an aggressive tank before and thought it would be kool... but i dont want my dragon to get eaten ><. it likes to hide in both of the castle in the tank.. its a 20 gallon..

What fish do you have in there?

20g is too small for a DG.

ive kept mine with agressive fish in my freshwater tank brfore moveing it to the brackish tank with no problems but a 20 gallon is to small maybe a 55 gallon would be better

erm other fish... 12 small fish (the size of guppies), a pleco and 2 loaches.

i would love a 55 gallon tank but i have no room for one

then sorry but you really should find a new home for your dragon goby then, these guys can get to like 2ft so def need at least a 55g and these guys look mean but they really aren't so i would think more aggressive fish would pick on him and stress him out

Many loaches grow to a foot. Plecos commonly grow to 18".

i know plecos can get big, the pet store said i can come in and down size it when it gets to big lol.. and i had no clue loaches grew that big ><

Wow no clue a Dragon goby can grow that big.... but i guess since i got it from walmart it was small but now its like 7and half inches

A dragon goby when full grown should be in a 75 at least. A 55 wouldn't really provide enough turning space. And if he would spaz out for a second, he would hit himself on the glass causing more spazzing until he realized where he was. Mine doesn't like any surprizes at all lol.

Dragon Gobys do okay with aggressive fish that do not actively pick on fish. Mine does fine with a purple spotted goby.

For a 20 gallon, I would suggest something that maxes out at up to 6" and then a couple smaller fish. Mine looked great with my baby whale mormyrid, betta and guppies. As for a pleco, get some kind of rubberlip pleco or a bristlenose pleco. They both stay small enough for a 20g.

Im under the understanding that dragon gobys all but require brackish conditions as full adults. Some can survive in freshwater at that stage but it hurts their lifespan. I think they are neat looking fish and I can see why you'd want one. I want one. But I wont get one till I can provide a brackish tank for him. Sadly I see little ones in every fish store I go to around here, and I have never seen an adult specimen.

Industrial does your dragon goby feed off the bottem?? mine does i never see it swimming around like the others..

ya if it gets to big i might have to get rid of it

Cerbios i just went to the pet store and got some salt and put the recommended amount in.. and the fresh water fish i have in there are doing just fine
