I went to the river and grabbed some cypus driftwood. Is all drift wood soggy and easy to break?

i made it sound like its paper thin, it hard and it holds alot of water and is semi strong.. what is driftwood then?

Many use Mylasion & Mopani (spelling) wood for aquatic environments. Some on here get their driftwood out of the wild and use it though. I recently did this and have encountered a problem with a clear algea/fungus, which seems to be quite common based on the searches that I have conducted.
"the white fungus is a common occurance but its harmless in a healthy tank and can be vacuumed away during a water change or it will disappear after a few weeks anyway.
it doesnt braek up easily and i have fish that rasp/nibble it. plants attatch really well, my anubias nana is solid on it now and java fern gets in fast."
Fish have shown no signs of illness or disease from the algea/fungus. Hopefully, I will be able to snap a picture in the next few days to get some input on the situation from members.

Thanks for the info, let me know when you get pics
