Got a question, is it okay to open the the quick change valve, on the return, half way to reduce the water flow into the tank? Is it bad on the pump?

I would assume that unless it was specifically designed for flow control that it would cause a strain on the pump.
It specifically states in the manual not to attempt this. Will put pressure on the valves and could cause major problems. If too much flow, remove the 1262 pump and buy a 1260 to use instead
