Is there a difference in the 2, or are they the same meaning... I was on a Canadian fish forum, and some of the people there are using G1 and F1, I know the "G" stands for generation, but I really don't know what the "F" stands for...

what I thought maybe is if the fish are from the wild, and have fry then their considered G1's, and if the fish are tank raised, and have no relation to each other and have fry, then they would be considered F1's... I might be going far out on this one but if anyone has any ideas post them on here.. thanks for your input..

The terms are used interchangeably, lately.
G1 refers to the first generation which identifies the wild-caught parents (There is no G0).
F1 refers to the first Filial spawn in captivity from wild-caught (F0) parents.

I learned something today.
