I currently spend way too much money on feeders for my fish per week. Im buying close to 1000 feeders a week. Anyone know how can i make my own feeder tank or something so i can keep them and breed them or what would you guys recommend? Thanks

according to your post it infers that you feed your fish feeders as a staple which is bad. feeders carry diseases..ect... so you should consider prepared foods bloodworms...beefheart...ect.. and and assortment of pellets. as for feeders two..three times a month max as a treat...as for making your own i sugest aeither get a 20 gallon long...preferably a 30 and get yourself sum convicts...they breed like crazy and you will have plenty of feeders. and they are a lot healthier than lfs's feeders

Pond Is the best feeder breeder in my opinion :) can spawn bazillions :)

It'll very difficult no matter the fish for you to support 1000 feeders a week every week with home breeding. You're talking about a huge breeding operation just to breed feeders to good size and have 1000 usable a week. I suggest you get as many of your fish as possible on prepared food.

Also depends on what feeders you are breeding ... If it is the common gold that you are feeding.. floor space is better than tank height :) so long, wide and short are better than Tall :)

:iagree: with this as well :)

It is not usually economically sound to breed your own feeders as a staple diet.
Check into suppliers for pond forage fish for lower prices, also think about setting up two-three 250g or 350g tubs to alternate feeding from so that you can salt treat or medicate if needed the incoming feeders for at least a week.

You can also buy wholesale if you do your homework. Set up a fictitious business so you can buy feeders in wholesale quantities. If you are interested, I'll send you the info for some wholesale suppliers. They won't talk to you until you get your paperwork done but if I recall correctly, 6000 feeders cost just over $100.

In many towns a wholesale liscense runs under $50 a year.
