i jut got 2 firemouths and 2 convicts in my 56 gallon tank and was wondering if it would be ok to make their staple diet a mix of frozen brine shrimp, frozen blood worms and frozen beef heart. or is pellets the best way to go still?

thanks for any advice.

thanks for any advice.

pellets are the best way to go, i feed NLS then vary with frozon foods, or other things. i probably wouldn't do beef hears or brine shrimp. i stick with blood worms, or piscine mysis shrimp(one of the only companies that has whole mysis shrimp), and some homeade food.

Thanks Honda, i know this is gonna be a really dumb question but i thought the frozen stuff was supposed to be really good for the fish. what about the pellets makes them so good? i noticed that they will eat pellets but go absolutely nuts over the frozen stuff. from what ive read im really not thrilled about giving them any live guppies. seems like there is a lot of bad things that could happen unless you breed the guppies yourself and i just dont have the room to do that.

Read what's in the food. The frozen stuff loses a lot of its nutritional value. Pellets are often high in protein, etc. Bloodworms are awful in terms of nutrition, but fish love the taste.

ok, thanks geronimo. makes sense. i guess the staple will be pellets and maybe every other day give them something from the frozen section....lol thanks again for all your help Honda and geronimo

yep exactly^. the only good frozen food is the piscine mysis or homeade frood. Bloodworms are awful but like you said, fish go crazy for them.
