We were told awhile back that when breeding peacocks it does'nt mayyer what species of female you have. This does not sound right to me I think if you have ruby red male you should have ruby red females and so on am I right? Would like to know as we are breeding alot of fish and want to sell qality fish.

Although most female peacocks look alike if you want pure species only breed them with the correct male .I had someone to tell me this too and when i saw his stock some looked correct but many had wrong shaped head, colors not correct and color patterns wrong.

This is misinformation that I am hearing a lot. The females must be the same as males or they are hybrids no might about it. I seen a lot of new breeders making this mistake and then selling as pure.

These answers are what I expected. What would be the best thing to do with what we are pretty sure are not pure breds. We have sold some as just peacocks sp. but I really don't like doing this wish there was some way to sterilize them.

thank you Mike this has been eating at me for awhile. My wife and I are trying to start a reputable fish breeding and marketing program here and did'nt want to get a bad rap for selling junk.

Bill - Do you have a local fish club? I learned a whole lot about breeding and selling fish through my local club (CCA).

If you have one local, you should definitely check them out. You won't be sorry you did. :)

Good luck.

Yes my wife joined our local fish club and you are right they are very helpful. Infact she won an award for her fish breeding.
