About 5 days ago I moved my 4 inch FH into my fathers 125 gallon because it was originally in a ten gallon growing out. I know FH can't be kept with other fish later down the road. So the first day there was minimal fights with the smaller parrot fish each about 5 inches and just some chasing and pushing with the FH winning obviously. So the next couple days not much fighting and everyone remained about nuetral. Since it isn't my tank I don't feed them my father does and idk how much or how often he feeds them but then today I noticed something (it could be my imagination but I wanted to be sure) the FH mouth looked a bit weird so I thought it was an injury or something but it's still breathing fine and it tends to pick up the gravel in its mouth and is building some sort of mound. I don't think parrot fish can inflict much damage and the Jack Dempsey in the tank is old and very peaceful. I know the tank is overcrowded but it's only temporary. Here are pictures of its mouth today plz tell me what u think
It still uses its mouth to move gravel around
The first pic was a couple days ago the rest are from today also it's still very colorful ever since it moved into the new tank

It's a fader so it'll undergo color phases, including its mouth. It'll scrape its mouth from all the movement of the substrate during nest building. Not sure if it's male or female but for its size, I'm leaning towards female.

As long as it's eating and behaving normally, nothing to worry about. Pay attention to what it pairs up with.

People say flowerhorn can't be kept with others I been keeping them together with fish for over 6 years with plenty of fish. The key is to buy them very young all the fish you want and let them be an alpha. I have three 1 inch FHs in the same tank as my 16 inch red devil and he's a killer. Anything that's not either a Midas red devil or flowerhorn he will kill. Texas and other similar cichlids he's fine with even convicts!

Sorry got off topic but looks normal to me unless he lock jawed with another fish and Blood parrots can get very aggressive they are part red devil well many are

Well a few of the parrots build similar things and the huge 8 inch Midas in the tank built one a while ago but none of paired at all they just build them and now the FH is doing it so idk it just ate and is acting the usual excluding the mound building and its colors has enhanced in the new tank but will its mouth be alright with all the gravel moving?

There's an 8 inch Midas who rules like half the tank but the FH has already fought with it and their fine

Sounds like the FH & Midas may have lip locked from the fight. They can really tear each other up...that's why FHs do not do well in community tanks. Cichlids in general love to move substrates around and become very territorial...usually no harm done from all the moving.
