I am trying to purchase an Eheim 2026, which is rated for, i believe, a 96 gallon capacity. This will go on my 55 gallon tank.

I may be getting my hands on 1 or 2 75 gallon tanks. Would this filter be sufficient for a 75 gallon tank, or should i go with the Eheim 2028, which is rated for 150 gallon tank?

I over filter all of my tanks I like to turn over btw 8-10 times the water volume per hr. It depends on your bioload whether or not a filter is sufficient.

Go with the 2028, or go with a wet.dry.

If you can get it the new Eheim 2078 sounds pretty darn good! I would do the 2028 or 2 2026s.

I think 5-7 times an hour is minimum I personally aim for 10-12 times an hour. Remember filters output rating is calculated with no media so when you add media it reduces the flow and the end result is about half the actual input. Example if your filters output says 200gph it is really 100gph after it is filled with media Hope that aids in your decision.

Turnover rates are very dependent on the species you keep. For my wifes tetras 3-4 is about the max before you have a bunch of fish that can't swim. For my plecos I do around 10/hour. The rating of the pump is not cut in half for all filters. Eheims get around 75% of their full rating, and tetra whispers... well for the three hours they work will get less than 25% of their full rating.
