So, I picked up my tank and saw this corkscrew like things in the setup. Now I've never had a tank filter like this one, So I'm learning a lot of things on here about them. Anyway I asked the guy who owned it what they were for(thought maybe they were used to hold bacteria or something like that) but he didn't know what they were for. Here's a pic maybe you guys can help me out. :help2:

It's filled with them, I figured I would just take them out and use what I see a lot of people on this site use. :feedback:

So I Finally got around to looking over the tank and getting it where I want it placed. And I noticed a few things I would like to ask...

First off I set things up the way he did(since I have never used a filtration system like this) and I noticed he was using/gave me a Eheim 1262

That sucked water up into this pipes

and then redistributed the water through this area

Then back through the tank :nilly:

Anybody???

I'm cleaning the tank now and would like to know what those bags are for :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure whats in the bag, but looks like you have no mechanical sponge/floss before the tank water hits the biomedia. This will cause the biomedia to clog fast and cut down on it's efficiency to colonize BB.

I have them I just took them out for the pics, Right now I'm cleaning out the old dirty water and having them filter it out before replacing them with some of my own.

Haha. here ya go. I'm trying something new. Visuals.
