question about filters and 3-D backgrounds

i'm considering a 3-D background but was wondering if the filter intake/outtake hoses are hidden behind the 3-D background doesn't that interfere with the circulation and effectiveness of the filter? I'm running 2 fx-5 and 1 xp-4 on a 180
