question about glass

I found a place were i can get 1/2 inch 36"x96" plate glass for 350 and when i ask for the same dimension but in 3/4 glass it went to over 900... my question is can you sandwich two pieces on each other with silicone in between.. one will it double the strength two would the silicone be transparent?

Nope, that isn't how that works. Silicone is also not perfectly clear when dry.

From what I understand no. It will start to seperate over time

Unfortunately no, there's nothing you can do other than buy the correct thickness of glass for the tank you require.
