i recently got me some gold saum's (2) and i also got a red jewel electric yellow and 2 convicts there all about the same size how ever one of the gold's keeps chasing the convicts and the other gold and the convicts and i have plenty of hiding spots for them. i was wondering if this is normal for them or he is just being mean to the others for some reason. there still growing there all about a inch long. just wanted to know if this is normal or will the others man up and eventually defend themselves.

Ty for your time.

Ive had a few gold saums, never that young though. They to vary in personality but some can be pretty big jerks. You'll need to keep an eye on them as they grow bigger

so he is most likely on a power trip?? cause he only goes after the other gold and the convicts he leaves the jewel and the yellow alone

It will most likely calm down goldsaums are south American and accually pretty calm for the most part but some males can be aggressive, id be most worried about the convicts hurting the goldsaums they won't let any fish bully them for long before they snap

I agree. But I did have a Goldsaum years ago that was up there in aggression...a real glass banger that kept the other fish at bay. He was mixed with RD's, Jags, and a larger Saxitilis Pike. He owned the tank...To this day, my all time wet pet I've had.

I've tried to find others like him throughout the years and have always been "dissapointed" by how wimpy they've been...needless to say, I gave up.

My gt is the strong silent type. Wasn't aggressive towards anything except me but anytime a fish got brave and challenged they got put into their place. Hard.

i ended up having to take the other one out of the tank he was beating it up pretty bad he can't catch the convicts but he looks for them all day he sees it he goes after it the other one is now in my gf's 55g with her tiger barbs rosey barbs african rainbows pleco rainbow shark and algae eaters doesn't seem to care for them just happy to be away from the bully fish.

Yeah if you have two male gold saums in one tank and espeically a 30g they will not play nice together at all. I have had 6 juvie gow outs in a 125g at one time 4 male 2 female everything stayed fine until they hit the 4inch mark then you will deffinately have one of the males be the alpha. Sounds like whats happening to you is that one male picks on the other then the one that gets beat up takes it out on the other fish. Like some one else posted GT's temperments vary quite abit.
