i have 4 gold saums all around the same size.5 inches or so.3 of them tend to sometimes darken up and have what looks like 3-4 vertical white lines across their body.the 4th one stays bright and no black spot visible.is this them showing submission to the dominant fish? notice the 4th one never shows any vertical stripes

That's usually a sign of stress. So maybe the 4th is being dominant and stressing the other 3 out? Noticed any aggression? Sometimes you have to sneak a peak to catch it.

well thats whats strange is the 3 look like that from time to time before i added the big male to the tank, hes confirmed male idk what the other 3 are though.1 of the 3 likes to size up the male and tail slap a bit flare at each other,no lip locking or anything the big male will shake his entire body and head at the other one.its only this particular one he kinda follows around, the other 2 he chases on site.im not sure what to make of it,the behavior.
