My 4 X 4" Orinos just started taking frozen krill today....YEAH!!!! they are spitting out what looks to be shell is this normal and I guess this is going to make my tank dirtier faster.... Also is there as much nutrients in krill as a live feeder?

Its normal but not what your really want...mine keep in the whole thing, but there are times where they do that.

Krill is much better than feeder! Most feeder are starved and unhealthy and have little nutrients left. Also there is the chance of your fish getting diseases from them. If you want to use feeders, the best feeder are home grown. Get some convicts and breed them. They make great feeders, you can even gut load them with quality food like krill in their tank before you put them in your predator tank. good luck!

have you ever grown convicts? they are super slow growers, it would take a while before they are big enough...

i used vitamin enhanced krill so i would say its better then feeders. as for the shells, mine don't spit them out but they do sH*t them out so basically the same thing, just scoop out whatever is floating around.... krill is kind of like meal worms, they can't digest the exoskeleton that well.

Yes, you can grow them quite quickly if you feed them high protien food and keep their water very clean by doing a lot water changes. After thinking about it peacock bass are huge, something like big fast groing tilapia might be better.

breeding tilapia is the hardest thing NOT to do.:D
they will breed non stop.
and the young grow very fast as well.
BUT,unlike cons, they are very messy fish, and thus need super filtration.
plus,they get big.
i have males in the pond that are easily bigger and heavier than my laptop.

damn.....
make some dinner!!!

Spitting the shells.... Sometimes common, depends on the fish. But no big deal as long as they're eating the meat. As far as being better than feeders, OH Yeah! And even better if you let them soak up some Vit's before you feed to your tanks.
