I recently bought a new 24 inch cube tank (60 gallons) with a custom stand and canopy. I set it up and filled it with water only to find that the water at the back of the tank was about 3mm higher than the water level at the front of the tank.

Visually, it doesn't bother me since when the canopy is on the tank you can't see it, but will it compromise the stability of my tank or put extra stress on the seams? The tank and stand are on carpet, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

The setup seems very sturdy and doesn't rock at all. The stand is made out of solid wood (no particle board, etc). Can I go ahead and fill the tank and just use it, or am I risking my tank breaking?

Thanks,
Katie

Agree, for 60 gal. My 55 tall is off by 1/5 inch. All is well.

If the stand/tank interface is twisted or bowed, this is a critical concern...

If the stand/tank interface is flat you are safe...

It doesn't matter one bit if the tank is "level", as long as it is "flat"...

Good to know :) I feel much better now. The tank sits flat on the stand. I think my floor is a tiny bit slanted, that's all. I'll go ahead and get the tank set up tomorrow. Thanks guys!

Hello,

I have a similar problem, but with my tank the front level of the water is arounnd 1 cm lower than the back level. According to my calculations my tank is about 43 gallons, 37.4*16.3*16.3 inches. Should I do something about that? I was thinking of putting some beer coasters underneath one side of the stand.. Should I remove (some of) the water first or can I try to do that while its full? (with some help ofc.)
I think the stand is the problem, but attaining another one will not be easy at the moment. Someone gave me this tank a while ago, fist time I filled it up I noticed that the 2 glass cross braces were loose, each on one side, and the front glass appeared to be bowing quite a lot. I removed the water, glued the braces, filled the tank again and at the moment they still appear to be OK. I think the difference in the front and back side water level may have caused the cross braces to become loose.

Any advice would be well appreciated,
