Hello, I am going to be making my own canopy and have a few questions about lighting for my tank. I have a 125 gal and am looking to upgrade to T5 lighting. My questing if regarding the fixture and bulb combination, what I want to do is purchase a standard T5 fixture, or a pair of them and mount them in the canopy, and then pick out my own T5 bulbs for it. Does anyone know if this is even possible, or would a run of the mill T5 fixture not be able to support aquarium bulbs in it?

Yes it is possible. Just make sure that you only use high output bulbs in a high output fixture. Otherwise any t5bulbs can be used.

Look at the instructions and match the watts of the ballast with the lamps.
