Question about marineland heater warranty

My Marineland visi therm stealth heater crapped out today . And when reading the warranty thing, it says that I have to have a receipt or photocopy of it. I bought it from my lfs months ago and don't have a receipt.

Am I screwed and just need to buy a new heater?
Was anyone able to get a replacement if you didn't have a receipt?

Also, suggestions for a new heater if I'm screwed? I'm thinking one of the titanium ones with the external thermostat. Since I have a turtle, glass kind of scares me.

In your local fish store they probably will remember you buying the heater. They may even have a copy of the receipt for you. Try them and even if they can not replace it, they may be able to give you a copy so you can send it in to marineland for a replacement.

Shoot marineland an email explaining the situation. They're typically easy to deal with.
