Question about Mascara Barbs

These are beautiful! About to purchase some 2" for $18 each. Anyone know why these species are so expensive (for a barb)?

Thx guys. Anyone else? Are they difficult to breed? This species does appear difficult to find.

I bred them without even trying Had 4 in a 50 breeder with a few other small fish with a lot of plastic plants in the back of the tank. I assume they are egg scatters. Some fry hid in the plants until I netted them out and put them in another tank. Wasnt trying to breed them but I now have half a dozen juvies. They are sometimes confused with filament barbs whish dont get the blue around the eyes and grow a few inches larger.
