My 22" RTC is flipping up side down on the bottom of the tank. Its like he has a itch and is scrathcing it on the sand substrate. Is this normal? he will do it about 4 to 5 times. Sometime just 2 to 3 times.

post your water quality results, size of tank and does he seam to have any white spots on the body. sounds like ich

I had ich in my tank and thats what a few of the fish were doing because the ich irritates thier skin... all the others got it but my redtail did not... he seemed pretty hardy when it came to it... he never had spots or even did the flipping and scrapping like the others did... We put some ich treatment in and slowly but surely it went away and the redtail is doing great.. not so for the others that were in the tank... we lost a 12inch bala shark, pictus catfish, and 2 clown loaches

ya he has no white spots. he is in a 300 gallon. i dont know what wrong with him. he has been doing it for about a week now. 4 to 5 days at least. he has a red spot on his bottom but it looks like its from scrapping the bottom of a rock.

he is in good condition. no bad fins or eyes. he deff more active when the lights are off.

i do notice that my flag tail goes up to him and eats off him. its werid.

im raiseing the temp to the tank and adding salt

give us the results after yur tank has been salted alil and temp. has been raised few degrees. Check on the water conditions daily till the actions of yur RTC changes. Btw dnt put too much salt.

that could be it. if the flagtail is eating the slime layer off your red tail, it'll prolly cause irritation.
