I figured I would ask first before I even fill the tank up. I bought a new aquarium today, 150 gallons. When cleaning it I noticed that the seam looks like it has a black mark. The silicone on the inside looks solid.

Thoughts on what this is? Does not seem like air, but I thought I would ask.

Any help is appreciated.

I've never seen a new aquarium with a seam like that, have you tried to leak test it yet? If you're uncomfortable with the way the seam looks see if store will take aquarium back.

I have not done anything yet. I do not mind it but want to be sure it is not an issue. When you say leak test, what do you recommend? Does that mean filling the tank with water? Thank you.

Yes I meant filling the aquarium all the way up, make sure the aquarium is level I personally always check with a level tool. First check empty aquarium with a level then fill aquarium all the way up, please make sure everything is level before filling. If you don't see any drop or leakage the tank should be good.

Sounds like solid advice to me. Thank you. I will check to see if it is level and then proceed as you recommended in the morning. Thank you again for the help.

It looks to me as if the panel was not cut properly and the side has been put on a glass polishing machine to even out that area. Apart from being a bit unsightly I don't think it's a potential problem really.

I checked the tank today. It holds water just fine and is level. I am just going to turn it around so I do not see the black mark (where they polished it). The seam has micro bubbles but it does not bother me. From the comments here and what I have read, it seems to be a common issue with larger tanks. As long as it wont leak, I am a happy man.

Thank you guys for all the info, I appreciate it.
