Ok so ive had my ripsaw catfish for probablly about 6 months now and his tail , pectoral and dorsal fins have always looked pretty beat up and tattered. the ends being frayed and ununiformed. I origannally thought that this was just how they look but now im not so sure. I think it might be getting worse but again im not 100%. I cant really tell if theres any differnce. regardless though he still has a great appetite and seems to be living a normal life.

Ive also noticed the dorsal fin on my hbrid is a bit tattered, each of the spines kind sticking out part way on its own. However i think that is due to the fact that during feeding, the hybrid seems to swim under the smelt right before my RTC grabs it. And ive seen the RTC nip him once or twice. I think that may be whats causing my hybrids problems. other than that though hes normal and eats like a hog.

Any thoughts on what this might be would be appreciated. And just tell me straight up if im being paranoyed about it, i mean after all the ripsaw has been living like this for atleast 6 months and is still growing great.

ok so i was just looking at past pictures of him and it is getting worse. Im assuming its some sort of fungal infection, but none of my other cats seem to be suffering from it. maybe the hybrid but thats minimal.

Whats the best way to get rid of the fungus and promote healing"? Im already planning on adding salt and doing water changes, is there any other ideas?

Sounds like they are getting beaten up...can't start healing until you remove the source of the injury.

aiight thanks guys
