Question about new ray - is this normal?

Hi guys,
I got a ray pup on Sunday and since she's settled into the tank really well and smashing down blood worms.

She's in a tank by herself, Ammonia is 0 as are nitrites. Nitrates read 5ppm.

Her skin is a bit blotchy around the eyes and just behind them. I'm not sure what it could be and if it's actually something to worry about.

Any help would be appreciated.

The white spots is nothing to worry about. They are like birthmarks and can go away with time or they can stay forever. My male motoro has this to all over his disc.

I feel you on that one. I was feeling the sane when i bought my first ray. Welcome to the most addictive side of the hobby. Be prepared to get yourself an huge tank with massivw filtration. And congratz on a gorgeous mantilla pup

She was sold to me as a motoro x pearl, but I'm not sure. The other pups looked like pure motoro. Either way she's a stunner to me

I just got my ray and it was eating 5mins after I put him in he has a birthmark on his belly.

I'm still a bit concerned, looks like the marks are getting worse... she's still active and eating , everything seems fine for her.

Thats not heater burnmarks. They get these marks and you can se symmetri of the marks. Black rays get them to but its more prominent on brown rays. Dont know what it is but its not anything to be worried about. Their skin is like sandpaper and think of these marks as a rougher sandpaper instead of the fine. My motoromale has marks like these to and he is perfecly healthy same goes with my bd x henlei female.
